    Hi all,

A friend married last month in Morocco. Upon his return to UK, he discovered something that has made the marriage un-repairable. He is a British Citizen, she is a Moroccon Citizen.

Does he have to go back to Morocco to divorce? Can he do it from the UK? If he has to go back, how long will he need there?

She is refusing to divorce, which I'm assuming because she wants to keep the money given to her (dowry). If he initiates the divorce, he has no right to ask for anything back.

He is obviously quite distressed at the moment, so I'm trying to help him as much as I can.

    Looking forward to any reply.

    Much appreciated

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that.
    Some people are plain despicable.

Here in Holland, if you get married n marocco. Acording to the MAroccan law, you have to divorce in Marocco as well.
If they have not consumed the marriage, then What I know.
She must give the mahr back.

It's been a long time since your post.

I hope everything went well for your friend, and he's free like a bird again!

      Hello there,

I am sorry to hear about your situation.

I have also not had a very happy experience either, as I was going through the marriage process with a moroccn gril from Morocco.

I hope to share the details of this with you later.

Just so that I can have a better understanding of this situation, what origin is your friend?
