Turkish folk dance by Indian students [02:15]
Indialogue Foundation presents Turkish Fest at Select City Walk. The highlights of the event include an Ottoman Turkish military band, whirling Sufi Dervishes, a Turkish bazaar, Turkish cuisine, Ebru art, folk dances, calligraohy and lots more. Also, a lucky draw will be held, the winner of which gets to fly to Turkey with Turksih Airlines. A variety of Turkish musicians and dancers will perform live during the fest. It will feature hosts of events such as demonstration of Turkish calligraphy and a performance by Mehterans - considered to be the oldest variety of military marching band in the world. There will also be a water marbling demonstration and the two day fest will also include stalls at the Turkish bazaar and local cuisine. The festival is bringing authentic cuisines including kebabs, donair, vegetarian and olive oil dishes, gozleme (pancake), borek (flaky pastry), mantı (Turkish ravioli), sarma (stuffed vine leaves), drinks such as ayran (buttermilk) and desserts like baklava and popular Turkish tea and coffee. Ebru, the Turkish art of water marbling will demonstrate making of patterns on paper by transferring colour from the surface of a liquid onto paper. The art is known to be practiced in Istanbul for more than five hundred years and is being passed from one generation to another generation. Taroudant is one of the most Moroccan towns. Its history, its importance and its people are a constant attractions to many visitors who specifically come to this town drawn by its charm, mysticism and magic. The famous French actor Fernandel starred in a film on Ali Baba and his thieves. The film was shot for the good part in Taroudant. The town is also called the Little Marrakech. Its medina (old town) is encircled by magnificent crenelated ramparts and thus resembles its more popular bigger brother. It has one of the most expensive hotels in Morocco: La Gazelle d'Or (The Golden Gazelle). Many famous people use to stay there including Barbara Hepworth, Michael Forbes. There is also a Jacques Chirac connecrtion: I was told his mother was born in Taroudant.
