The festival held in the town of Imilchil has two purposes: livestock and finding a partner. The event is a homecoming celebration for herders who have spent the summer taking advantage of grazing grounds and there is also a matchmaking aspect to the festival. Different tribes agreed to allow their unmarried members to meet and marry freely at the tomb of Sidi Mohammed Maghani. Also called 'September romance', the occasion gives singletons the chance to sing, dance and flirt in elaborate customs meant to attract a mate. The festival is one of the biggest of its kind in Morocco and attracts thousands of visitors in this exchange of livestock and love.
