Charity Hitch to Morocco 2011 Part II [11:06]
Nottingham students, Chris and I, hitch hiked from London to Morocco to raise money for Link Community Development in April 2011. This is the second part of the video diary documenting the trip. An amazing experience for the both of us. Never knowing where we'd end up at the end of the day, who would pick us up or how long between lifts. Sometimes it was seconds, sometimes hours. We'd cover both large or relatively short distances in a day, but all in all it was awesome, we made it to some great places, met some cool people and had a real laugh, while raising money for a good cause. What more could you ask for? Thanks to everyone who donated and the kind people who helped us on our way :D

2010 Aga Khan Award for Architecture, Shortlist - Rehabilitation of Al-Qaraouiyine Mosque, Morocco [01:36]
One of the 19 nominees for the 11th Cycle of The Aga Khan Award for Architecture Location: Fez, Morocco (North Africa) Architect: Mohammed Fikri Benabdallah Client: Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Completed: 2005-2007 Design: 2004-2005 Site size: 7'200 m² Since 859 AD, when construction commenced, and especially since the twelfth-century expansions under the Almoravid dynasty, the Al-Qaraouiyine mosque has been a vital presence at the heart of the medina of Fez, not only as a place of worship but as one of the world's oldest universities. The aim of the rehabilitation project was not only to preserve the historic fabric of the mosque but also to revive its cultural and social role in the life of the citizens of Fez and to enhance its use as a place of worship and a place of learning. The rehabilitation team, relying entirely on Moroccan experts and professionals, adopted a holistic and multi-disciplinary approach in the project. Their strategy involved the critical examination of the haphazard interventions of the past 60 years and rigorous documentation work. New technologies were employed to reverse the process of slow degradation that was undermining the structure's physical integrity, and previous inappropriate interventions were removed where feasible. The work was completed in such a way as to not interfere with the daily use of the mosque by worshippers. Al-Qaraouiyine's academic role has also been broadened after the completion of the rehabilitation ...

Morocco : Under the Spell of Horses . [04:34]
The film is part of the series "Under the Spell of Horses". It contains spectacular images from one of these Fantasias and documents the life of a Berber family. The Slimani family has two horses: a workhorse and a high-class Fantasia stallion. It is the family's pride and joy. Most farmers can only afford one riding horse, if at all. In a country as dry as Morocco green fodder is expensive — indeed, it takes as much to keep one horse as it does to keep a whole family. But the horse is still considered part of the family by the Slimanis. Director Lisa Eder and her team accompany Lachsen Slimani as he makes his way through the mountainous terrain of the Middle Atlas to the outskirts of the desert. It is the only way Lachsen will be able to make his and his son's dream come true, of riding together at a fantasia in the royal city of Meknes...
