Decorative Fossils [01:15]
Decorative Fossils - as part of the home decor series by GeoBeats. We do our best to get really unusual and interesting fossils from all over the world. We have pieces here from Morocco, from Russia, from China. I am holding some ammonites from Madagascar. This is, more or less I guess, an eminite shell. They are now extinct. If you cut this shell in half, you would see the chambers inside that over time have filled in with sedimentary mud and calcite crystals. We sell a fair number of this fossil shark teeth. This is one of the largest of the shark teeth. It is the Megalodon and now extinct giant shark potentially possibly related to a white shark. This one is a little sort of pre-historic and limestone, about 40-50 million years old from the Green River Formation at Wyoming.
