You people are really funny today - no matter which board I turn too, it ends up making me laugh

Houda, I know what you mean, but I don't think it has anything to do with being lesbian, though. Moroccan women (especially elderly ones) are used to touch eachother (e.g. holding hands) while they speak or kiss eachothers hands a million times during a conversation. Don't ask me why they do it. I think it's nice as long as it's your grandmom or your aunt, but I used to hate it, when the woman was a total foreigner

I think it depends on which region of Morocco - up north where my parents are from - its banned. Shaking hands of the opposite sex is allowed although some of the young men with "beard" have stopped that too. I actually had a strange experience when I was 15. On holidays I said salam to my cousin - just like I used to by reaching out my hand, and he literally turned round and left the room, and I was WHAT??? I was told later that it was because he now considered me a grown-up woman....and I ended up taking the whole situation as a compliment....

Well, they get offended but I really don't care. Like I said, no lip action with ladies. I don't mind kissing male relatives on both cheeks - but only very close relatives. Blood relations usually - or 'uncles' who have been in the family for as long as I can remember. Then its like kissing your dad. Other people don't try & kiss anymore - hijab acts like a forcefield

Houda - I can't wait to hear about the 'other' stuff

I'm sorry but don't you find that a bit much? You are related after all. Surely its like shaking your sister's hand? I'm not referring to your cousin, but I do think that excessive avoidance of the other sex means people end up thinking MORE about sex. What do you think? Just my opinion

you ladies are cracking me up today
so far you have put me off going to the Hammam and shaking hands or kissing anybody in Morocco.

my etiquette is a bikini for hammam the top only comes off after 1/2 hr or so,when absolutely necessary, but i let nobody wash me ever!!..and other etiquette, women i kiss on cheeks (who the hell kisses on lips?!and men apart from 2 close uncles everyone gets a handshake

i will never forget one year, my poor little bro, was about 10yrs old and he went to kiss an older lady in Souss on the cheek but she turned her head and he got her full smack on the lips, and to make things worse, she only had one big sticking out tooth!!..my mum and I nearly died laughing whereas my brother meskeen nearly died of embarassment, he wanted to wash his face w/bleach afterwards
