Its what I am, my faith in God has shaped the path I have taken in life. For me there is one God, it matters not what name you call him, what matters that he is a part of your life.
May i ask you Arwen what is the religions u practise not that it matters but just wondered?
I agree that converting your partner for marriage is not right thing to do or ask. I wud feel too selfish myself to ask such a thing from the woman i love. Love is abt giving and not asking or taking away from your partner something which is very dear to her soul.
If we are children of the same god then marrying the other shudnt be a religious problem.
Bringing abt secularism is the key.
I remember Hoshni Mubarak the Egyptian president was the first among all Arab nations to make 2 very imp changes:
1. A Egytpain woman married to a foreigner cud pass her nationality to her child , before only the Egyptian male cud do so due to Islamic laws there. But i must congratulate the Moroccan law for women called the 'Modwana' to follow Egypt and Amend its laws.
2. Since 40% of Population in Egypt is catholic, anybody wanting to marry outside their religion cud do so in the Egyptian courts and live happily and peacefully. The court was above the law of religion which is rightfully ok for us humans as we live in a society and have to abide by laws that are peaceful, for the betterment of Ppl in the society.

No priest can shun you out of the faith you believe in by just marrying somebody of another religion. Remember faith can move mountains. God loves those who love others and themselves and not those who bring in hate in the name of religion.
God also loves the word love and will never be against his children who want to marry out of love and bring in the next generation from their love to spread the Msg of love in this world.

I wonder why even the educated amongst Muslims dont understand this and become secular.

Hello again Ahlam, I have been born and raised in the christian faith. I have respect for any faith but believe first and foremost that to show a love for your fellow man is important. History is full of wars fought and lives lost in the name of God and religion, and before I get slated again for saying this, I include Christian faith in this as well. I do not think this is God's plan. It pains me to see human suffering in the name of God or religion.

I am only one small person and can't make much of a difference to the pain and suffering in the world but I like to think that in small ways I try to live a good life and do right by those around me.
