From Fes to Marrakesh via Atlas mtns

I was wondering what would be the best route, stopping at interesting places on the way from Fes to marrakesh. I want to see some of the more scenic parts of the mid and high atlas, but am not sure which route would be good. I don't have my own transpport but I do have my own children and they range from 2 yrs to 10 yrs old, so this has to be taken into account when considering hairraising rough roads on mtn routes. I am interested in doing light walking in these areas too, but no long treks given my circumstances. If anyone can suggest a good route, it would be great! Thanks.
