Hello everyone,
Does anyone have any information regarding the procedures on how to ship a car from New york to Casablanca. How long does it take to get it there? how much the shipping cost? what the shipping company recommended? and what documents are needed. Your reply is highly appreciated. thank you.

Welcome in Morocco : the Amazing country

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am a student, living and studying in Rabat, the capital of our wonderful Kingdom, I am 16, I have to say something to you since you have chosen Morocco to be your destination: Welcome in Morocco.

During your visit, you will surely enjoy your stay in our beautiful cities, and, as a matter of fact, you have to visit the capital, Rabat, sine it is the Royal city, you will like very much its museums and its historical sites as well.

However, if ever you need my help, especially about Rabat and the hotels, please do not hesitate to contact me at: ghassan12@caramail.com

Yours sincerly,

In Reply - this is a bit of a "minefield"! The actual shipping of the Motor Car is quite simple and probably cheaper than you think - I import containers from Morocco to UK and the cost is very reasonable! BUT your major cost will be the IMPORTATION DUTY of the vehicle - which as I recall is about 70% of Value - the problem is also agreeing values! If you are taking up residence (for the first time) in Morocco you will be able to import it free as part of your chattels . You can of course import it for a temporary period free of charge ( used to be 3 months - may be 6 now but not sure) this is relatively easy BUT you MUSt take it out of the country after the temporary period OR deliver it to a Bonded Govt Compound where it will be impounded until it is re exported .
I strongly recommend that you contact the Moroccan Embassy who will happily give you all the information you need - including freight forwarders for your country. Also DO remember that even if all the paperwork is 100% and all duties paid - it is still likely to be a difficult and protracted process - some palms may need greasing! Good luck with it ! - If you need a base in Morocco - have a look at my Villa http://www.moroccovilla.co.uk
