Morocco's Jaouad Gharib road races world athlete of the year
Lisbon, Mar. 25 - Moroccan double World champion in 2003 and 2005, Jaouad Gharib has been picked top road races athlete in the world by the Association of International Marathons and Road Races (AIMS).
Gharib, 34, received the top award in World road races, the AIMS/ASICS Golden Shoe Friday in Lisbon, by the AIMS chairman, Portuguese Carlos Moya Da Silva.
"I am proud of this award, which motivates me to double efforts and win other imitational competitions," Gharib told the Moroccan News Agency "MAP" commenting on this award.
Gharib is in Lisbon to take part in Lisbon semi-marathon, which he said "is part of his preparation for London marathon," slated for April 23.
