Bomb wrapped as gift kills 3 in Kashmir
SRINAGAR, India (Reuters) - A bomb wrapped as a gift exploded in a home in India's Kashmir, killing three family members, police said on Friday, the latest in a spike of bomb attacks in the volatile and disputed region. The device, placed in a box, went off near Bijbehara town, 45 km (28 miles) south of Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian Kashmir where a separatist Muslim revolt against New Delhi's rule since 1989 has killed over 45,000 people. The explosion killed 45-year-old bus driver Mohammad Syed Kakroo, his 22-year-old son and his 20-year-old daughter. "Kakroo's family received a gift-box from an unknown person on Thursday and when they opened it in the late evening, it exploded with a big bang," a police official told Reuters, adding that police were investigating. No militant group has claimed responsibility. ![]() ---------------------------------- Malik, you're an intelligent man with many theories, who would commit such an atrocity? |
