The former Prime Minister of Malaysia an outspoken critic of the West charged his Deputy Prime Minister of homosexuality and jailed him, thus elimination any comepetition to his power.
Articulate and flamboyant, the good thing is that he retired -- in style. Now Mubarak has charged his political opponent of forgeries in an attempt to silence or put him away in jail for a long time. I am not implying anything negative here by citing the above. I wonder if fellow Muslims see these power moves as ploys to stay in power, or legitimate. There is a rumour that Mubarak wants his son to take over when he retires. Ghadafi is doing the same. Royalties for life? |
