Eh?

Why would it be disrespectful to wish anyone Eid Mubarak or Happy Hannukah, or whatever, on a Christian board? Would it be disrespectful if a Hindu posted "Happy Divali" on the people of the book board, because it's reserved for people of the book?

As for the bit about "we know the game", I think you're reading a little too much into it if you see some conspiracy behind an easter greeting.

Nevertheless if you really find this thread offensive, I expect D_V or Houda could move it to the people of the book board.

Hello DV,
I think it is disrespectful for there are other boards on M.com where the nature of this thread is more within its' niche (i.e. Open Board, People of Book, etc.). Since Islam has nothing to do with Easter I think that it is a bit disrespectful to post it in the Islam board.
Let me put it in other terms: a thread opened on how Duran Duran is the best band in world history in the Politics board. That thread has no place in that board, it should be in the Music board.
Furthermore I find the nature of the placement as a tactic premeditated.
The boards are open for all and I am happy that there is a diverse group of members in the Islam section. I hope that even more people of different backrounds and faiths come to this board.

What I meant by the 'name of the game' is we as Muslims are told throughout the mainstream media and western societies that we must conform to certain ideals. We are backwards people without them. With this are provocative actions taken at times by Evangelicals and we are in turn told that we gotta keep are to keep our mouths shut, that is 'freedom'. 'We shall come to your lands and media and tell you what beliefs are good and what are not. We shall feed you if you share our beliefs, and it is not thanks to your god. You have freedom of speech but you may not criticize us........'.
DV, please do not think this is crazy rantings, it is just ask people to please be respectful to others.
And I do think that if a Muslim would go into a Christianity board and wished an 3eyd mubarak to one another that it would be viewed by many as something as a disrespectful thing to do.

thanks Houdak.....

The request of Malik is appropriate, as this subject falls under 'People of the book'.

I'm glad that inspite of our strong disagreements at times, there is not a lot of censorship here. It helps in expressing ourself more openly.

I agree Theja. I think it is very important that we are able to disagree but not be disagreeable (as people).
