It is a false statement to say that priests are more likely to be pedophiles than are other groups of men from various religious groups.
Philip Jenkins (non-Catholic scholar) cited that only 0.3% of the entire population of clergy is affected by pedophilia.
Needless to say, many Catholics have condemned such acts by such priests.

It is also a well known fact that the media sometimes love to blow things out of proportion.
Conspiracy sells.
Radical provocative theories sells.
The know this and use it very well.

Don't forget that America has a large number of Protestant
adherents who are also known to have anti-Catholic views.
