Yes, a confused superstitious mind will see things that way.

When I pray I have the liberty to assume any posture and face any direction. If I inadvertently faced Mecca, that does not mean I am acknowledging the Allah of the Koran. But like the superstition example I gave above, someone like that might think it otherwise.
