January 16, 2005 -- The father of a murdered New Jersey family was threatened for making anti-Muslim remarks online — and the gruesome quadruple slaying may have been the hateful retaliation, sources told The Post yesterday.
Hossam Armanious, 47, who along with his wife and two daughters was found stabbed to death in his Jersey City home early Friday, would regularly debate religion in a Middle Eastern chat room, one source said.

Armanious, an Egyptian Christian, was well known for expressing his Coptic beliefs and engaging in fiery back-and-forth with Muslims on the Web site paltalk.com.

He "had the reputation for being one of the most outspoken Egyptian Christians," said the source, who had close ties to the family.

The source, who had knowledge of the investigation, refused to specify the anti-Muslim statement. But he said cops told him they were looking into the exchanges as a possible motive.

The married father of two had recently been threatened by Muslim members of the Web site, said a fellow Copt and store clerk who uses the chat room.

"You'd better stop this bull---- or we are going to track you down like a chicken and kill you," was the threat, said the clerk, who was online at the time and saw the exchange.

But Armanious refused to back down, according to two sources who use the Web site.

Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy would neither confirm nor deny that cops and prosecutors were looking into the religion motive, saying only that "nothing is being ruled out." But a relative of the mayor who answered the phone at Healy's home said there was information the murders were "religion-related."

"There are several theories we are looking into, but we are not commenting on any of them at this time," said Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Guy Gregory.

Armanious' fervor apparently rubbed off on his daughter, Sylvia — who would have turned 16 yesterday.

"She was very religious and very opinionated," said Jessica Cimino, 15, a fellow sophomore at Dickenson HS.

A family member who viewed photos of the bloodbath said Sylvia seemed to have taken the most savage punishment.

"When we saw the pictures, you could tell that they were hurt really, really bad in the face; especially Sylvia," said Milad Garas, the high-school sophomore's great-uncle.

The heartless killer not only slit Sylvia's throat, but also sliced a huge gash in her chest and stabbed her in the wrist, where she had a tattoo of a Coptic cross.

Also found murdered were the wife, Amal Garas, and the parents' other daughter, Monica.

Fred Ayed, the deacon at St. George and St. Shenouda Church, where the deeply religious family attended services, said he's worried that the murders could have a ripple effect.

"I am concerned for the safety of our community," said Ayed, who knew Hossam for 30 years. "People are scared because one family was slain like cows," said Moheb Ghabour, publisher of a local newspaper for the Coptic community.

Osama Hassan, director of the Islamic Center of Jersey City, described the relationship between Copts and Muslims as cooperative if not friendly.

"I think there might be people that can get into physical fights, but not to the point of murder," Hassan said.

Both the deacon and uncle poured cold water on the theory that the family were the victims of a robbery gone wrong.
"This is not a robbery, Ayed said. "We found all of the jewelry in the house. They didn't take anything."

The FBI confirmed it has been called in to help with the case.

Oh My Goodness!

I was a regular on Paltalk and often listened to Coptic's rant about the Qur'an and Islam... it is ALL rather extreme and people are absolutely atrocious when expressing their views, but what has happened to this family is incredibly sad..

1-IS religion responsable?

2- The Serbs in Yoguslavia and their massacures for more than 1,000,000 Muslims in Bosnia and lately in Kosovo. The Yoguslavian Serbs are 12,000,000 and they are GREEK ORTHODOX CHRISTIANS.

3- The massacures that happened in the Great land of United States of America against the Native Americans. More than 95% of the Native American population were massacures. They were literally shot everywhere they were found!. Ask any US History teacher and he would shed some light upon you regarding this subject. More than 90% of Americans are considered CHRISTIANS.

4- The Oklahoma City bombing happened by the CHRISTIAN CULTS group.

5- The use of "Uranium Bombs" by the American troops during the Gulf War against the Iraqi Civilians in Southern Iraq that infected thousands of civilians with the Uranium Radiation. people saw with their own eyes on the Arabic Satalite TV Channel (Al-Jazeerah) how Iraqi babies are born today with Uranium infections. If you see their pictures, you would cry. Their faces look like they had been burnt. Several infected American and German and British Soldiers who were near Southern Iraq were herrased by their governments when they tried to speak up against the Barbaraic attack against the Iraqi civilians by the US forces, and the Western Media until today is rediculously trying to cover up for this BARBARAIC attack on civilians who did not have nor use the Uranium Bomb, which is equivelant to a small Atomic Bomb.

Lets assume it was and see what Islam says about it.?
"...if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people...(The Noble Quran, 5:32)" In this Noble Verse we clearly see that Allah Almighty honors all the innocent souls that He created. Killing any innocent soul is so hated by Allah Almighty that He considers it as a crime against all of Mankind.
"Those who invoke not, with God, any other god, nor slay such life as God has made sacred except for just cause, nor commit fornication; - and any that does this (not only) meets punishment. (The Noble Quran, 25:68)" In this Noble Verse we clearly see that Allah Almighty considers the innocent soul "sacred". He will punish those who kill the innocent souls (by throwing them in hell).

"It may be that God will grant love (and friendship) between you and those whom ye (now) hold as enemies. For God has power (over all things); And God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. God forbids you not, with regard to those who fight you not for (your) Faith nor drive you out of your homes, from dealing kindly and justly with them: for God loveth those who are just. God only forbids you, with regard to those who fight you for (your) Faith, and drive you out of your homes, and support (others) in driving you out, from turning to them (for friendship and protection). It is such as turn to them (in these circumstances), that do wrong. (The Noble Quran, 60:7-9)"

Explanation of the aya 47
IF I am wrong please correct me
The condition at the time when this sura was sent down were such that the muslims were being made the target of persecution and tyrany in MEKKA in particular and and in Arabia in general and life became miserable for them. even though muslims emigrated to the haven of Medina from every side, the disbelieving Quraish were not preparing to leave them alone and let them live in peace even there. it would take a book to write it down in details but basically I point out few things:
their aim was to extreminate the muslims the same way the Jews tried to eliminate Jesus(pbuh). so what was the answer?
Either surrender to the forces of ignorance, giving up their mission of preaching the true faith or war at the cost of their lives to settle and for ever.
So God gave them the permission to fight in a way different from before in Aya 2-190 because in Medina there were only a handful of muslims there surrended by thousands of soildiers so they were urged to take up the sword and clash against the pagant forces of the whole Arabia

Anyone who wants to use this Aya to justify any cause would have to be facing the same factors and even in Israel or American prisons people are not faced with such pain so this Aya is for those who were attached at that time in Medina

Germany's population during 1930 was estimated to be around 62 million.

Tihad, though the Ayyat was meant during the troubled times described in the Qur'an, it is common knowledge people in Syria, Lebanon and other M.E countries use the verse to
justify ritual killing. It has even happened in the UK.
But you're correct about "innocent till proven guilty" part.

I am a regular in Paltalk and i have been to the Coptic rooms before.
They automatically bounce anyone they don't know.

You can only enter the chat room through invites only.
I was accepted into the room after making friends with a Coptic online. And i have seen Muslims and Jews participating in the Coptic room, and it's usually the
Muslims who are very hostile towards the Copts and Jews (Common in heated debates).
But it has never elevated to such extremes as what has been reported.
This to me, is truly shocking.
