playing devils advocate

By Islamic and Christian terms, shouldn't we support Zionism, wasn't the land of Israel/Zion actually given to the Jews, by God?

I'm sure I have read in the Qur'an that is was...

In answer to your first post, it is probably worth pointing out that the Anglican Church has nothing at all to do with Christian Zionism, nor is it involved with the movements that bred C.Zionism.

The answer is that no, it doesn't only exist in N.Europe and the USA.

In any case you misunderstand Christian Zionism if you think it's related to Jewish Zionism, and you misunderstand both if you think they're somehow endemically linked to the Anglican church.

Tihad...

Christian Zionism is basically a "theological" belief and
seeks to convert Jews (but not limited to Jews only);
to accept Jesus as the Messiah for "biblical prophecy" to be fulfilled.
(Visit jewsforjesus.com and you'll understand what i mean )

Jewish Zionism has a more political belief.
However, the Israeli government has seen the potential power in Christian Zionism and thus exploits their motives to (intertwined with Jewish Zionism) defend Israeli actions and policies.

The Christian Zionists will of course, take advantage of
their official recognition by the Israeli government to further their cause.
They are exploiting each other, really.

Yup, what D_V said

Also, Christian Zionism tends to emanate from the Southern US "Bible Belt" and not from the Anglican/Episcopalian churches which are more liberal in their stances.
