OSAMA is a title of a movie....

I watched it just before the New Year and felt so sorry for the little girl.

The scene is in Afghanistan during the reign of the Taliban. A Mujahadeen died fighting the Russians. He is survived by his mother, his wife, and a daughter. Since the Taliban does not allow women to get on the street unaccompanied by men, the family could not get out to find work to survive.

So the girl dressed like a boy and accompanied her mother to work. Later the Taliban rounded up all the boys to train them for war. Eventually the girl was discovered.

The Taliban pretended to execute her, but finally grant her a pardon, and gave her over to the Mullah. This Mullah already had acquired several wives by using his power in the religious heirarchy. Now he is delighted to find this little girl as his youngest wife.

I felt depressed after watching this movie. I rented this movie from Blockbuster.

Talking

What made you rent it then? And more to the point, what sort of discussion would you be angling at?

The movie might be crappy, but the story behind it is real and very touchy. At least it should tough any one who respect and care for other humans. I can't believe you find it funny. That little and her family are also human beings just like you and me.

Simple, the film isn't what I really find funny. It's the reasons why TheJa chooses to raise it in so many different contexts...

Let me show you something and perhaps you'll understand why I chortle. I shall edit my above post as well, so that it conveys my meaning better - I didn't mean to cause offence.

I suggest you read the whole thread, although the movie is mentioned at the end

And there was your big mistake... never make such assumptions about a person's character, dear fellow

And anyhow, even if I had been primarily meaning to target the movie (which I wasn't), please tell me since when someone merely passing comment on a movie ("crappy" or not) qualifies anyone else to pass judgement on his/her character?

Well, reading the story and reading your comments about it, a person can only assume that you are very insensitive to other's misfortune
