I heard an interview of Somalia Muslims celebrating their first Christmas in America. Having nowhere to go and with no land of their own, America accepted 12,000 Somalians for resettlement in the US.

Coming to the mall, the children were so taken by the mascots attired in animal form. To respect their religion, they were shown only the festive part, and no sermon was preached to them.

One man decorated his apartment during Ramadan and left it until December --- that was the only decoration the Somalians had of their dwelling places in December.

Refugees from Sudan were also brought to America. Being abused, hungry, homeless, and landless, these refugees came straight from the wilderness to the cities in America. One young man recalled landing in San Diego: there was so much light that he thought he may have come to hell, and these people driving and walking around are not real.

Lights in the streets, houses, buildings, cars, planes, lights everywhere. Straight from the jungle to the city.

WELCOME TO AMERICA!

More than good deeds. There is compassion to alleviate the plight of the desperate.

I understand Somalia and Sudan are Muslim nations. I hope other rich Muslim nations are sending money and volunteers to help the poor, starving, and diseased people in them.

Are you trying to insinuate that Christians are more generous than Muslims? I remind you that one of the pillars of Islam is charity?

I understand that most of these people are probably Christians? I hope the rich republican Christians in office will work very hard to help these poor, starving, and homeless people. Come to think of it, if there is so much compassion to alleviate the plight of the desperate why hasn’t homelessness been eradicated yet?? We are the richest country in the world.

If you have no comments about the subject of the thread, then refrain from posting ridiculous comments. America is not the land of satanic light.

No, I'm not insinuating anything. Since I have no information on how the rich Islamic countries are reaching out on the Somalia and Sudan crisis, I am curious if someone here at Morocco.com will have better knowledge.

In times like these, I just think it reasonable to expect Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Libya, UAE, and the like to be doing something generous to really help these poor and destitude people who have similar faith to theirs.

Yes, America do have homeless people: (1) Some are mentally imbalanced that they cannot maintain a home even if they get help. (2) Some are alcoholics and drug addicts who prefer to remain that way (homeless and roaming). (3) Strangely, a few chose to live homeless.

All these people get monthly checks from the government and that is why they can remain that way if they don't care about decency and dignity. Perhaps they don't care anymore.

Also there is a group of people who get temporarily homeless, but receive rehabilitation or job training and get off the streets after some time.

There are shelters for the homeless and many of the the people go to sleep through the night, get showers (if they like), and breakfast. In some areas the facilities are so stretched that the homeless are given help by priorities.
