I don't like missionaries but this post illustrates the problem with you people in that you want to forbid everything, did you hear about freedom of religion or should we forbid islamic proselytising in the West? Like those muslims in England that stand on street corners to spread islam?

**My question is why are there not muslim charities providing this?**
Good question Sista!

And Jer said rightly when talk about freedom of religion. Is it true that a lot of non muslim converted into islamic religion, certainly they didn't wake up one morning deciding to convert, surely it has been a work made by muslim association abroad.
In every case it must be freedom of religion everywhere in the reciprocal respect of our own religions.
Not easy but possible

disproportional power relationship

simple- , that is not the issue. The issue is rich evangelists targetting those who are totally desperate and using their desperation to their own 'advantage'. Let me plagiarize from an article in the respected US publication Mother Jones:

Quote:

"The issue is the disproportional power relationship," says Ibrahim Hooper, a spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Washington, D.C.-based organization that works to promote a positive image of Muslims. "They use their resources to coerce people to do what they want them to do." Hooper remembers reviewing a proposal by a Christian agency to send veterinarians to help impoverished Fulani cattle herders in West Africa. But the plan had a caveat: "You don't get the veterinarian unless you take the missionary," he says. "When people are in desperate circumstances, they'll do things they otherwise wouldn't do."

This not only targets Muslims but poor people everywhere. My Russian friend was telling me how TV evangelists come to Russia these days.. lecturing people who have a 1000 year old Christian tradition how to be 'real christians'. A number of times distributing sweets to little children in orphanges with a caveat of converting to the American evangelist following.

I have no problem with my Christian coworkers here in America trying to convert me. As there is no disparity in power. Actually I probably earn more than them :P!

And I just try to convert them right back!

Seer tnaass, or in another words: I am not going to comment on your silly post because you are not here for a serious debate, you are here to knitpick and criticize, just for the heck of it.

The Stealth Crusade

Quote:
Inside one Southern university, Christian missionaries are being trained to go undercover in the Muslim world and win converts for Jesus. Their stated goal: to wipe out Islam.

Here is the link to the article:

Mother Jones is a very respected, investigative US journal.
