"And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets" (1 Corinthians 14:32).

Abraham was both a patriarch and a prophet. Later God will not allow prophet Moses to contradict Abraham. Likewise, a prophet coming after Moses should not contradict Moses, etc.

That means a true prophet coming years later will not contradict what the earlier prophets already prophesied. In this way, all the prophets of the Bible progressed building upon one another.

Sign of a false prophet:

1. If he contradicts the earlier prophets. No prophet is allowed to abrogate what has been established earlier.

2. If what he says does not match his lifestyle (Matthew 7:15-21). A true prophet will live by the Word of God, and NOT MANUFACTURE WORDS TO JUSTIFY HIS IMMORAL LIFESTYLE.
