This type of thinking is not only in India. I remember seeing a documentary about this girl who wanted ask a bunch of guys in Morocco about their thoughts on a girl not being a virgin before getting married (she was engaged to some guy so she was curious). She went to the head of some madrasah and he told her that the value of a woman is no more than a wing of a fly except for the fact that she can have babies.
But that did not matter some other guy, he asked her to marry him (so he could get a visa since she is a German citizen).




As I recall how the show ended she dumped her fiancé for some flashy Iranian dude she met on a bus.

Yeah, it was too bad about the documentary, I was hoping that it would be interesting... interesting subject anyways. This girl ruined it by her shallow comments, though when their vehicle broke down and this Moroccan guy was trying to woo her was what took the cake (he had the nice bladi teeth LOL).
LOL, I think that this flashy Iranian guy was appealing to hear because she seemed to think that at least he is not a flashy Moroccan guy. I think she is going to be in for a suprise though.

It is too bad that there are these ´Islamic educators` who appear to know next to nothing about what alQur'an and 7adeyth have to say about this subject, as well as others in general, and fuel the anti-Islam machine that seems to be gaining popularity. I mean I too can grow a long beard, wear a turban and talk a bunch of nonsense, I just happen to believe that being myself and follow the Sunnah of arRasoululLah (S3WS) is a better way.


A good book on this subject is ´Gender Equity in Islam` by Dr. Jamal Badawi.
