I love british law
guys
check this story out. I love it ---------------------------------------------------------- A few years ago I was self employed and had a small office. One of my lines of work was looking after peoples houses (collecting rent). One landlord chose not to pay his Council Tax and I had a summons from the council. I rang and explained it had nothing to do with me and they said they'd cancel. The following week I had a visit from a bailiff making a walking possession order - listing all my goods. This is whilst I had a customer in the shop. Embarrasing or what?? I rang the council and they admitted it was their mistake and called the 'rottweillers off'. I then issued a small claims summons for £300 costs for the embarrassment. Half expecting the council not to turn up. And guess what - THEY DIDN'T. I was awarded the £300. I rang the same department and told them I had judgment and I too would now send the baillifs around to the TOWN HALL. I commented jokingly how I liked the chandelleirs. They said yes but 'we're the council. You can't'. Next minute a manager came on and said the cheque would go off that night. I received it in the morning. The moral of the story is. The law is the law - no matter how small you are. So those who feel they are banging their heads against the wall - don't give in. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |
