What is your biggest irrational fear?

veryone has fears. Little phobias that don't interfere too much with daily life and massive hang-ups that affect normal functioning. Some are justified, some are not. But fear does not always consider logic or rationality.

What irrational fear do you have that you have not overcome and would like to?

Mine is speaking in public. I would rather die a thousand deaths than get up in front of a large audience and present something or express myself. I get all panicky and uneasy and feel an intense need to flee the scene. I have tried to address this by taking a course in public speaking but I ducked out when it started getting closer to it being my turn to present to the class I also joined Toastmasters and did in fact get as far as presenting but I vowed I would never do that again I was so nervous!

As a marketing consultant I have to present occasionally to clients and I feel the same sense of trepidation and dread. Funnily enough, my anxiety dissipates significantly if I can present from amongst the group as opposed to standing up in front of everyone.

It's hardly a disabling fear but it is something I would like to overcome. I don't like feeling limited in myself.

I am also very very freaked by any creature with either no legs or more than 4 legs. But this is definitely not a fear I plan to address. I cannot imagine ever feeling anything other than hysteria around a cockroach or a snake!

What's your secret fear? Things or situations that bring you out in a sweat?

For example:

* Insects
* New social situations
* Interviews
* Rollercoasters
* Deep water
* Heights
* The dark
* Elevators
* Crowded places
* Animals
* Confined spaces
* Flying

I also hate being in confined spaces, it's not a huge phobia, but i do like my space!!

Dogs of any size. I get palpitations even when they're on a leash, across the road.
