Legitimate Defense

In Italy passed in these days, the law about the Legitimate defense.
this mean that now, if somebody do to you something bad, like to entry in your home and to steal, you can to defend yourself also with weapons and you are right.
You know in Italy every day, we have crimes, but this law is passed now, because we are near to elections.....

What do you think about ?

kinda scary...the whole vigilante thing..
but i can see that it could be a good thing, if your faced with a life threatening situation why not be armed and ready to defend yourself and family.

Can to be a good thing if people will have head......but if people will become crazy with this ?
I mean : now all we can have a gun and people can use it also without cause.....

thats what i meant about being a bit scary...they dont all have to have firearms though do they?
a kitchen knife would do the job!!

Today we had the first case :

A man was in his home and found a thief that was entering in home.
The man has shot killing the thief.
