Unemployment Twenty jobless burn themselves alive in Rabat
A total of 20 members of the National Independent Group of Unemployed, holding royal letters, have attempted Thursday to commit a collective self-burning, before the Ministry of Health in Rabat.
The 20 members were taken hastily to Ibn Sina hospital to be treated. Doctors said that five members, aged between 25 and 41, sustained burns of the third degree, and that at least one of them is very seriously injured. A close source to the group said that they have decided to burn themselves alive, as they notified the public opinion in a previous release, as their meeting with some officials on Wednesday reached a deadlock. |

So sad........
There are always demos of one type or another. Jobless doctors or disabled graduates for example. One year they were camped out for a few months - getting beaten up etc of course. Right outside some govt. offices in Agdal. They got nothing of course. They are desperate msaken. Not easy at all esp, when most jobs are sold rather than given on merit.
There was some govt official yesterday saying that jobs had been offered to these people, on the basis of their qualifications, but they had declined. Who believes that eh? Certainly not me......
