I want to win Miss World

http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,5-2005560404,00.html

Quote:
Islamic extremists have made death threats against Hammasa. They claim the Koran forbids beauty contests and that displaying her 32-23-34 figure is a sin.

But the brave beauty from Uxbridge, Middlesex, said: “There is nothing in the Koran that says anything like that at all.
Someone... please get this woman a copy of the Quran!

Quote:
“I won’t be bullied by bigots who think women should be hidden away. It is so wonderful in England to be treated as an equal to a man. But I will show respect to my faith by not wearing a full bikini. I’ll also wear a sarong."

I find the above quote from this woman something that is inaccurate. Because of this verse from The Quran:

Quote:
24:31. And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards Allah, that ye may attain Bliss.

I will advocate the rights of women to wear what they desire and if they wanna be beauty queens etc - but I think it is wrong to try and dish out apologist lies as a defense against any criticism and death threats (which are disgraceful things to happen). That is cowardly behaviour from her and we do not need women like this to represent Muslim Britain/women.

I know that many Muslim women like to reveal a bit of flesh and wear bikinis, swim suits and they don't hide their beauty etc... but I think such women are aware that Islamic rhetoric frowns upon them for doing this and that they would not come out with the complete crap which Miss England has come out with - just to appease 'The Sun' readers.

Anyhow, what is it with the turn around? Something else highlighted in that article is the empowering approach to foreigners/asylum seekers ... It is this rag that spreads a lot of the muck about immigration, scaremongering its readers into thinking that this country is being swamped by immigrant scroungers, articles and reports that are a touch above BNP's The Voice of Freedom.

About this I was asking in my post "Women and veil " what mean because yes, the Kuran say this but if this is the rule, why much women wear the veil in their head and in the same time they are weraing narrow shirts and narrow jeans that leave to see all their body ?
Is not this a against sense ?

I ask this for understand.

I read about her in the paper yesterday, i think it was wrong for her to say what she did about the quran and women.
I have no problem with her entering Miss World, i try not to judge people ...she is beautiful, she will probably win!

Good luck to her if she wants to compete. There is no compulsion in religion. However, I totally agree with Mimi about it being a nonsense to say that Islam does not frown on it. You are not supposed to display beauty. She is competing in a Beauty Pageant & a see-through sarong can not be described as modesty in the Islamic sense. Western yes. Islamic no.

We've all worn these things - sometimes even less However it is hypocritical to say that it is fine in Islam. Some things are just unacceptable Islamically & we can talk about it all day & still come back to the same conclusion. Let's not twist or just lie about what we are supposed to be doing but are not. She should just shut up about religion & stick to speeches about rescuing sick donkeys.

There’s nothing brave about this bubblehead. Regardless of the fact that she disagrees or agrees with the position of certain members of her community, this supposedly “educated” Muslim should not publicly oppose them. It just gives others more to talk about.
