Would You Marry a Pakistani?

I hope this thread does not create bad vibes, but I need some advice.

My best friend (Moroccan) has been dating a Punjabi Pakistani guy for the last 2 years, they are both in love. Her parents have totally opposed to her marrying him on the grounds of cultural differences and the fact that the Pakistani culture is not exactly friendly towards women, the guys can be very violent too.

She is in need of some support, especially from her family, but I feel its not going too well and they are always having rows regarding this.

She has now turned to me for some moral support, but I dont know what to say (Im not to keen on her marriage either) I grew up in an area dominated by Pakistanis and have seen a lot of what they get upto, and the way the behave.

I know you get good ones too, Im not beating them all with the bad stick, but what should I say to her? How can I show my support? bearing in mind Im not to keen for her to do so.

Many thanks in advance

And since when was the Moroccan culture friendly to women? On a legal stand, it was only until the bold move done by King M VI after years of lobbying by the feminist movements that we've seen changes done to the family and marriage laws in Morocco, especially during the last two years. The Pakistani and Moroccan cultures are both similar in that they are both based on Islamic roots. Am I wrong?
