Vasectomies - Texas man gets life for beating infant

Sometimes I believe in vasectomies being done to young males, and such a precedure not being reversed until they and their partner can prove that they are gonna make fit parents. I mean, we all have to take examinations before being considered safe, mature and fit enough for most things in life, such as driving and work - why not the same being practiced for parenthood?

anyhow.. here is an example of why I would endorse such an extreme measure for saving needless suffering and also those kiddies that get preggers before they have even left school.

HOUSTON, TX, United States (UPI) -- A Texas father has been sentenced to life in prison for breaking almost ever bone in his infant daughter`s body.

She survived despite the injuries.

The Houston Chronicle reports 23-year-old Ivan Emmanuel Castaneda maintained his innocence during the sentencing Friday in Houston. He said the mother was the culprit.

Twenty-year-old Donna Marie Norman is awaiting trial on charges she didn`t protect her children from the abuse.

The couple`s abuse against their two children started before the February incident when hospital officials say their 6-month-old child even had a lacerated tongue as well as broken bones, police said.

Their oldest child suffered a broken leg in 2003, when she was 1-month-old.

Castaneda was originally arrested for that incident but released when Norman told police she dropped the baby on accident.

She testified Friday she didn`t drop the baby and lied only because Child Protective Services wanted an explanation for the incident before giving her children back.

Castaneda must serve at least 15 years before being eligible for parole, although it can drop to nine years with good behavior.

Norman`s trial begins in February.

these sort of cases make me so angry! How on earth could anyone be so heartless? and to a poor defenceless baby and how could a mother sit back and watch?

This sort of thing is happening all the time and not enough is being done about it - despite all the campaigns about stopping cruelty to children.

Did you know that the Child Protection Officers must seek the permission and to inform the parent/s of a supposedly abused child? how effective it that when the 1st thing an abusive parent will do is threaten the child into submission in not telling anyone of what is being done to them?
