this just comfirms if needed that the president of USA has no real power , and that all they require from him is being a good comedian who knows how to lie to the people ....when you see these kind of people running for presidency , this only means that that post have no value to it and is purely decorative

I'd actually be surprised if Rice ends up running - she's a compelling national figure from the Republicans' perspective (ie the mere fact that she's a black woman dispels their all-white image), however she's got very little real experience of electoral politics. She'd be chewed up by a Democratic opponent who is likely to be much stronger in 2008 than John Kerry was in 2004 (at least, assuming the Dems aren't stupid enough to choose Hillary Clinton).

The Reps' strongest candidates by far are probably Rudolph Giuliani and John McCain - which does not of course guarantee that either man will be chosen in the primaries. Largely because both are rather independent-minded and neither is very right-wing.
