Al-Qaida threatens to bomb Vatican

The Spanish daily ABC reported yesterday it received an anonymous letter of three pages, threatening to bomb the Vatican.


The writers of the letter justified the attacks on Madrid and London and said that they were natural reactions and self defense against terrorism on Iraq and Afghanistan.

They accused the Vatican of backing capitalist countries to invade Iraq and take hold of petrol.

After deep analysis of the letter, experts concluded that its content is different from others sent earlier by Al-Qaida. The letter justified its accusations of the Vatican by referring to the Holocaust and Hitler. it also referred to oil as the main reason of Iraq invasion rather than a “crusade” war, as extremists used to describe it in their letters.

Police assured that it will deal seriously with this threatening letter.
