A total of USD 4 billion transfered this year

The number of Moroccans living abroad amounts 5 Million. This year, they have transferred more than USD 4 billion, reported Quds Press.

Statistics conducted by the Ministry of foreign Affairs and cooperation show that the number of Moroccan living abroad exceeds 5 million.

Morocco depends a great deal on immigrants to bring in hard currency, besides the amounts of money they transfer every year, which contribute to the economic development of the kingdom.

Government figures show that the money transferred by Moroccans living abroad is the second source of hard currency and the second source of income to the country.

Observers estimate the number of Moroccans, at home, who depend on these transfers, directly or indirectly, amounts to 8 million.

Moroccans abroad have contributed enormously to the development of their country of origin at different levels. They invest in tourism, industry, and agriculture, explained AL Quds Press.

“They have even engaged in some social activities especially in the south, providing infrastructure such as electricity, running water and roads, which made communication with remote places easier,” added the same source.

The Moroccan government predicts an increase in the amount of transfers compared to the previous year. They are expected to amount to MAD 40 billion (more than USD 4 billion), an increase of MAD 3 billion in comparison with the previous year.

moroccans are successfull in busnisses abroad , because we are a nation of traders and travellers ...in the fifties illeterate moroccans were brought in Europe to work in Belgium cool mines or french factories , the situation has changed today , cause most of the immigration is made of highly skilled moroccans who by the way make more money , yes it is a loss to the country but also a big opportunity , cause these new migrants devellop new experiences and have more opportunities and then end up bringing not only capitals to the homeland but most importantly skills and experiences...

Can you explain this to me:

"Algerian remittances, have always been much lower than those of other Maghrib emigrants. Although Algerian workers in France and other EC countries outnumbered other North Africans, their annual remittances were estimated at US$350 million, whereas nonAlgerian transfers amounted to US$2 billion"

Never heard such utter nonsense before. But hey it's good entertainment so keep it going because I don't want to stop laughing.

In the UK, Most of the Algerians I know hold prominent professional positions be it in universities or in the industry. All the Moroccans I know work in the catering industry or are scrounging on the welfare. Most of the Algerians came out of Algeria with high academical qualifications whereas the Moroccans back home used to work as shepherds in the Atlas mountains.

So rabid dog, don't compare yourself to us we play in a higher league.

Go and sell some citrus fruit to survive. Hahahahahha!!!

Majority are in prominent positions? Highly skilled? Mostly educated? Most left DZA in their teens and arrived in the UK after spending a number of years floating around Europe waiting for a way to hrag over here. Not even holding Bac, nevermind anything more. The UK are so sick of illegal entry that they brought in transit visas for Algerians. Note that Moroccans are not on that list

As for work.......The hospitality sector is full of Algerians called Michael Cafes are full of petty criminals peddling their wares; be it credit cards, electrical goods or clothing. Did you not hear about an Algerian from South London who was arrested recently following discovery of a large number of fake passports and cash in his flat? Need to know of a scam in the UK? Well, you know who to turn to & they are not Moroccan

You are living in denial Bobo. Working in catering? Work is not haram and an HONEST day's work in a low skilled job is no shame at all. I have respect for everyone who works honestly. Rather a poor man with honour, than a scrounger or a criminal. The first generation of immigrants were working in low skilled jobs and they have done very well considering everything.

At least we aren't keeping up the numbers in Belmarsh, Brixton & Wandsworth. Busy criminals so they are. The British police are so grateful for those of you who are willing to inform on each other. You want to provide your countrymen with emotional support, let me know & I will arrange some social visits to your 'highly skilled' compatriots who are currently being detained at her Majesty's pleasure.

I have Algerian friends and unlike you, they admit that many in your community are an embarassment to them. They hate being known as criminals or terrorists. Why don't you just admit it instead of directly your anger at Moroccans? We don't paint a pretty picture about Moroccans on here. In fact, we are often brutally honest about the things we don't like about our community - whether home or abroad. Denial is what you are living in. My my Bobo, you are a complete pr@t..... here's some reading for you
