What the hell is the govt doing about this??

Seriously, in an ideal world parents take responsibility. Tougher parents yes but usually, the parents of these children are self-obsessed lazy chavs who have no interest in keeping their children 'clean'. The amount of times I have seen people use expletives towards their children (well, babies in buggies) is diabolical. Is it the child's fault they sprayed Ribena down their mum's burberry trim white jeans?!

I'm not a big fan of prisons for young offenders (with minor offences)...... where's the rehabilitation?!

I posted a thread on this subject 'happy slap tv' when my cousin was sent a bluetooth video which showed a gang beating up a kid, it made me so sad, its humiliation
and disgusts me!

I think prison serves as a deterrent. Sure some will be scape goats and have ruined lives. But at least others will see that it is not worth the trouble.

You are the one who brought race into this thread by implying that Muslims could not care about a "white" girl. The point I was making is color does not matter, Muslims are black , white, olive and the like

You believe religion is fantasy, fine. Each to his own.

But a true liberal - as you claim to be - would recognise and respect others rights to practice religion, fantasy as it may be.

Anon, it does serve a limited purpose but filling Young Offenders Institutes with these kids won't sort the problem out. They are not scared of a short sentence for beating someone up - plus, they meet up with all sorts of nutters in these Institutes & don't come out feeling 'sorry'.

The root causes of this behaviour are ignorance, boredom & lack of ambition. Imprisonment doesn't sort out any of those three issues. I prefer prevention rather than prison.
