I have just learned some really bad news about the moroccan economy today , quite dispointing , the Thomson Maroc is closing !!!!!! this Thomson factory opened just 3 years ago and was the highest tech in all Thomson factorries in the world , specialised in electronics , I think the king himself opened it !!!! it is really a bad news for our economy if they close ...I wonder why are they closing ?!?!?!?!?! a year ago FOX TV renewed all its High tech materials from Thomson maroc !!!! this is definately a very bad news and to make it worse they do not say the reasons behind this catastroph !!!!! this year is defenately a very bad year for the moroccan economy , not much rain , high oil prices and only 3% growth !!!!!! what's wrong with us ?!?!?!?!?!?!?! why all this bad luck ?!?!?!?

I think they are closing down because of the high tax prices, and they might have found a better and cheaper place to open another Thomson factory for high tech somewhere else...

no where in the world they can find the "moroccan genius" ...this factory is not based on cheap laboure anyway , it is made of high tech engeneers , and they were very happy with the high level of moroccan engeneers ...I hope they are just moving from Casablanca to the New Tangiers Free Zone where they have no taxes to pay !!!!!!!
I am waiting for more informations to come to draw conclusions ...we can only speculate for now ...anyway if this is true and if the factory closing is the same I have in mind then it is certainely a bad bad bad day for me !!!!!!!!!!!

That would be a sad day indeed. I have always liked Thompson many of my close people had trainings there and they are one of the best companies in the world when it comes to production. the name of Thompson in Morocco is the same as Hoover in the Uk. everyone at some point in their lives had purchased one of their TV sets

Correction, for the average Moroccan Economy can't get any lower. Losing Thomson is bad news for the gov. The few SHAFARA who benefit from such companies. It's so funny that you believe that a whole country's economy depends on a single campany if that's true, then that country had no economy to start with Don't let them fool you with crap like this...

Cool

i bet it must be quite disappointing for u guys, but hey, no company in the world is omnipotent! anyway, what Tekab said abt the whole country's economy is dependent on only company only, then, perchance there wouldst not be any economy rise at all! that's true. but i suppose the economy's not gonna be hit quite badly, unless Thomson Maroc is the reigning supreme company in the whole of Maroc.
and the weather part, well...u have to believe that it all comes from God. i mean, He is the one who controls everything, rite? then, if there's no rain, take it as a blessing. i know how u guys feel...precisely becos S'pore has had a dry spell in Feb this yr.

It could have something to do with copyright infringement and/or lack of patent protection. That, and they probably had a few employees illegally downloading ebooks on company time.

Who can really say for sure?
