Hi All,
I am doing a thesis on the old very little know subject of this old Moroccan magic called "Danyati" or "TLamis". For research purposes we're trying to gather data and information about the history of it, it's origins, how do parents pass that knowledge to their kids, the risks of using such dangerous practices, stories about incidents using Danyati and the good counterpart Foukaha who wear the white hats and help people from such bad deeds.
From the very little information we have about the subject we've gathered that it's one of the most difficult sciences to master. A simple mistake in reciting one of their passages could make a person loose his face or just disappear.
We're not encouraging this practice nor are we condoning it...this is simply for educational purposes which will in turn result in a book about the subject.

WalhamduLilah I am a true believer of what God tells us about the magicians " La Yaflahou Sahiro min Hayto Ata" Sadaka Allaho Al3adim.
"Don't try this at home"

are you coolkarim from Egypt?!?!?! please be accurate in reciting the Qoran which said " laa Yofliho Assaahiro hayto ataa" sadaqa Allaho al 3adhim ...as about magic , well I was hearing a lot about it in Morocco , the most famous region in magics is undoubtely The Souss ( Agadir and surrounding ) those people are known of turning spring waters into spring of gold if they had the blood of some special people , and a lot of strange things like that ...I never believed in magics I am a rational man , but even in my engeneering school there was a guy from Souss who made some magic tricks , such as for example if you are missing someone , you just tell him his name and you go to the mirror and you see his face ...I think black magic exists , it is part of a very powerfull science lost in time and coming probably back from Egypt and Babylonia if not Atlantis , I believe it exists and I believe that the faith in God is stronger against any black magic...and sorry if I could not help , I am certainely the worse moroccan to ask about this subject

Are you an anthropologist? I think you need to get into the field for research. I know there are some anthropologists that have studied this phenomenon in the Maghreb: Edward Westermarck, Victor W. Turner, Paul Rabinow etc. All old studies and maybe not exactly the subject. But a good entrance to the gates of networking!

Does anyone else know more about the subject ?
I know a lot of you out there know about stories that occured involving this type of phenomenon.
Do some Moroccans feel that talking about this type of phenomenon can bring bad luck to them ?
As always, thanks for everyone's input

CoolKarim.
