I don't think Western women are more oppressed than *our* women... that is also getting old...

at least a woman is free to be the person or in the position she chooses to be in the West, without the repercussions that occur in *our* part of the world... Personally, I may not condone a lot of what does go on in the lives of many Western women - but I would say they have greater respect and freedom, than the average woman in Africa, the Middle East and those in places like Pakistan and Bangladesh etc...

One Example: I have just read an interesting article about Honour killings that have happened in Germany. Women who were killed by family members because they wanted to live their lives as they chose to. This had happened to Muslim women and Islam does not condone Honour killing, but somehow respect for Islamic principles and human life is evaded by a family and a society, that choose to think that women bring such consequences upon themselves... just this little issue is not an isolated instance, I know this happens in our homeland, Morocco.. it happened more than once, in the small town I came from... with occurrences such as these, esp when they happen in the West - how can you convince anyone that women from our cultural back round are so respected and are not oppressed?

the women in the west have been violated morally and psycologically , especially after the World war I , when in lack of men , women have been forced to work in humiliating jobs such as construction etc ...women have been forced to earn theire daily bread ...you see the west requires from women to be "full man " , we require from our women to be "full woman " ...a woman is not a man and coul never be one ...why a woman is forced to do the military service for example in countries like scandinavia ....?!?!?! thousands of women in the west have to sell theire bodies in order to survive , prostitution is everywhere in the west every street every corner ....it is banalised ...women are seen just as bodies good for the advertising , this is the biggest crime one can ever comit towards women ...now back to your question about what the media calls "honour killing " , well first of all let me tell you that I feel that you are a poor victim of the western media (as most of us are) second let me answer you with another question :" which one do you prefer : honour killing or no honour at all " ????????????? some women want to live with no honour at all and you call that freedom , dcadence is not freedom and we want to honour our women as women .....saying this you should also not take for granted all what you watch in the western Tv about those propagandistic anti islamic documentaries such as honour killing ...I must admit that I have never heard about such a word as Honour Killing in Morocco ...I learned that word in the west ..it is a pure creation of the west , it is all lies and anti islamic poropaganda aimed to distruct our islamic societies...also I do not want you to come back and tell me that prostitution exists in Morocco too ...yes it does and only when we wanted the western "values " in our societies , the same as poverty and illeteracy , they are all the price of westernisation !!! prostitution never existed in Morocco ( the same as poverty and illeteracy) before the contact with the west ( 1900) and before the west imposed on us its decadence and called it values and freedom !!!! the only prostitution that existed in Morocco before 1900 was the one practised by the jewish women .
