It's no great surprise, and probably no bad thing either. Dodgy (usually white and frequently right-wing) Labour councillors spent decades relying on "community leaders" to "get out the Muslim vote" for them.

It's about time Muslim voters stopped giving Labour unconditional support. If that's what's happening then it can only be good for politics as a whole.

VP,
I don't want to vote Labour. However, due to tactical voting, I may well have to vote for them again. Thats the problem with this first past the post rubbish.

I am not voting Labour or Tory. I know what you saying Ghazala, vote labour not because u support them, but because you don't want the Tories to win.

However I beleive that if we vote for LD/Respect we are taking votes away from both.

I know what you mean hun. I voted RESPECT for the Mayoral elections. However, in my constituency, it really is a two horse race. A vote for LD/Respect would be a wasted vote
I will wait & see how I feel on the day tho' lol

I think that for National Elections, voting LD can make a difference. But you are right, if its a two horse race than Labour it will have to be
