Spanish police have arrested four people in connection with the commuter train bomb attacks in Madrid last March which killed nearly 200 people.
Prosecutors allege that the four Moroccans - a father, his wife and their two sons - are linked to an Islamic militant group.

The family members are accused of sheltering the men who put the bombs on the trains.

An international arrest warrant was also issued for another Moroccan man.

The four were identified as Allal Moussaten, his sons, Brahim and Mohamed, and wife Safia Belhadj.

Al-Qaeda links

They were arrested in the Madrid suburb of Leganes, and are suspected of links to the Moroccan Islamic Combatants' Group (MICG).

The MICG is alleged to have links with al-Qaeda.

The family is accused of helping two people suspected of involvement in the train attacks to escape after a collective suicide in April 2004 of seven suspects in an apartment block in Leganes.

The fifth Moroccan, Youssef Belhadj, is thought to have appeared on a videotape claiming responsibility for the attacks.

In the video, he described himself as al-Qaeda's spokesman in Europe.

Mr Belhadj was arrested in Belgium in March 2004 but was later released.

It is not known whether he is related to Safia Belhadj.
