SMACKING

Do you think smacking children is acceptable?Is it right for a parent to lash out at a child?Some parents particularly moroccans don't think smacking or a clip around the ear as 'real'physical punishment.What are your views?

well for me i dnt think that with moroccans there is such thing as smacking only beating is tha word..trust me i know...aand i think it is horribly rng sooo terribly wrong...y did u put this thread up?

I'm a teacher,i deal with kids suffering physical abuse at home..most parents think it's a good way of disciplining their children,but they're doing more harm than good.Not every kid is strong.

you kno smackin up kids onli mke them hate u mor n mke even mor insecure...most parents say it cos of the way they bin brought up but i think its rubbish.... hitti children shuld b put to an end i swear...u kno id love to work with kids who go through it too...i can imagine what kids goin through it ryt now are reacting to it.... u kno i bin there...i kno what its lyk.... u shuld really try help out you kno...trust me i think its a good thing..i mean i went through it all alone but its onli made me stronger... oh i dunno

I don't believe in smacking at all. I find it to be a bad discipline. there are many ways of punishing the kids. I personnally use a good technic my parents used on me and that is called stars vouchers just like in schools. it works fine for me. they were times when i did get to the point of really loosing it due to long working hours, employees laziness and complains lack of sleep ....and did pinch them on many occasions and what i found out is that it never worked and only made guilty and stressed but it was very wrong. hamdolilah I never remembered recieving a smack from either mum or dad(Rahimaho Allah)

I personally think a clip round the ear or a smacked bottom is ok discipline and not 'beating' a child. Ti, i admire your (somewhat western) idea of star system and all that but at the end of the day some children are msakhat and do not listen, you can shout till you're blue in the face but unless they get a smack they won't stop their bad behaviour.If you teach them right from wrong and show them that if they cross a line then they will get a smack,then they are aware,otherwise they may never get the message.Some kids are running out of control and have no respect for their parents because they never were properly disciplined.
As a child I was disciplined with a smack or two,and the wooden spoon and my backside were friends for a while ,but it never did me any harm,and whats good enough for me will be good enough for my children insha allah,I know there will always be differing views on raising children,but I can understand where lines become blurred and abuse takes place,this is a difficult and understandably controversial topic, though throwing parents in jail for smacking is a little extreme i think.

BEATING is not RIGHT as for a lil SMACK...as long as it aint nowhere near tha face or whatever man thats it obviously beating and smacking aint a goodway of dicipline god damb it it mkes tha child HATE u trust me....
