The important thing to remember is that Allah SWT tests us all in differnt ways. You should be proud of your decision and action to wearing Hijab, and just be aware of 'was was' (shaytan). Bear in mind that lawfully a company is obliged to consider its applicants only on the basis of their competencies and ability to do the job well. Go in to any interview with that in mind, along with full knowledge that you will succeed
and give them everything you've got. Remember that everything that is meant for you (ordained by Allah SWT) in this life will come to you and that which is not, will not. ![]() Good luck habiba

Sista, I think she was talking about breasts implant! women with breast implant seem to find jobs easier compare to women with small ones. That's a fact.
Discrimination against Hijab has nothing to do with appearance. It has something to do with the believe. People will judge you and stereotype you if you wear Hijab in the west. Not they disapprove of your look. The issue there is that are concerned about your believes and what you stand for. It's wrong, but again it's reality. |

Simple
I agree with some aspects of that. However i believe that if you go into an interview with belief that you are
a)competent to do the job b)are ammenable to the companies policies Then you stand every chance of getting it. In todays world it is all about presentation and ability. Dress smartly and (dont forget a smile ) and just prove to them that you have the skills and qualifications necessary ... and you have tried you best. If you dont get it, it wasnt meant to be. I think it important to not get bogged down in the belief that your job prospects are dependent on whats on the outside. If you receive a rejection then go over the interview and consider what could have been the areas that you were weak in. Then do everything to counteract that, so that next time you will be successful. Its all about positive belief and positive action . Not to forget perserverance

here's a bit of hope for Hijabis out there... not that I'm suggesting you move to Switzerland
![]() 11/29/2004 7:00:00 AM GMT Source: AFP A new opinion poll about the integration of Islam in Switzerland showed that the majority of Swiss people support the Muslim woman's right to wear a headscarf at her workplace. About fifty-three percent said that a recent move by a supermarket chain allowing women in public sales jobs to wear the Islamic headscarves was right. Whereas 36 percent opposed the idea, the newspaper Sonntagsblick reported. The poll, conducted by Isopublic survey company, also showed that the French-speaking Swiss were more opposed to the idea of allowing headscarves in the workplace compared to the Germanic and Italian language communities in Switzerland, the newspaper added. Moreover, a huge majority nationwide, about 76 percent, did not feel the 300,000 Muslims living in Switzerland posed any threat, while 16 percent felt the opposite, according to the poll. 57 percent supported Muslims who wanted their children dispensed from standard religious education at school to be taught Islamic teachings instead, whereas 31 percent rejected the idea. "The findings show that the Swiss people are very tolerant about the integration of minorities," Farhad Afshar, head of a coordination body for Islamic organizations in Switzerland, told Sonntagsblick. Two-thirds of those polled supported criminal proceedings against Muslims who advocated stoning -- whereas 26 percent opposed them -- and 78 percent supported providing Muslim women with courses to ensure that they were aware of their rights. Swiss people are divided over granting an official place to Islam alongside the officially-recognized Protestant and Roman Catholic churches. 46 percent favored the idea while 43 percent rejected it. The opinion poll was conducted amid debate in European countries regarding the integration of the Muslim community in Western societies, including the ban of religious symbols in French schools, and particularly the Muslim headscarf, the veil. The poll surveyed 1,101 people aged between 15 and 74 by telephone throughout Switzerland. http://www.islamonline.com/cgi-bin/n...ervice_id=1250 |
