Hello Sista

Given that you have a psychology background, have you considered doing a Doctorate instead of the traditional PhD? You could either do Clinical Psychology or Educational Psychology. The good news if you want to do Educational Psychology is that the 2 years teaching experience and PGCE which were pre-requisites, will cease to be as of next year. Your first degree (Psy.) must confer GBR (Graduate Basis for Registration as a Psychologist) with the BPS (British Psychological Society. You also get a reasonable salary while you are studying (I think 2 days at Uni and 2 days placement, the 5th day is a study day).

Oh and Length of study is 3 years!

B'slama a lala Sista.

Hope you and the family are well

Its actually my career aim to work in clinical psychology (inshallah) but as with most jobs in healthcare you need to have relevant experience in addition to educational qualifications. Thats my aim at the moment, i want to work in the field (so to speak ) and do some post graduate study and that then gives me more options later. Humdulilah i just got accepted for a post that combines the two so i shall see how that goes.
I heard about the proposed changes for Ed. psychology but i thought the implementation stage was still 2-3 years off?

MChica

Most Phds incorporate a masters in the first year if you dont hold one at the time of applying. Not sure if its compulsory, could be.
