asSalaamu 3laykum ya Kendra,

Malik is out of the music world loop (not too out of touch but I have not grabbed a new CD or album in, well, I cannot remember... actually old ones. The newest hiphop I grabbed was Champion Sound from Mablib and Jay Dee, well over a year after its release! I liked it better than MadVillian) can you catch me up. I have listened to a few CDs but I have found that even the critically aclaimed ones are not worth it. I have actually been more interested on working of various flavors than listening to new releases.

Here is a question: a friend of mine (who's taste I trust) told me about this cat named Blits and said that he was rather good but he does not have his album. I guess he is in NY but he is from somewhere in western Africa. You heard of this guy? I cannot find anything about this guy.

Another: is the new Roots Manuva out? I hope that it is better than 'Run Come Save Me' ('Run Come Dub Me' I think was rather good though).

I think that is it for me right now. I shall save anything else until your return to this place.

m3 Salaamah,
Malik

alaikum salam Malik

good to see you are still hanging around the board ha ha

I know what you mean about new music,I'm not really feeling much, though I've just got the new John Legend and thats really growing on me but right now i'm going through a swingbeat stage ha ha listening to all my old Guy and Keith Sweat tunes
my big excitement that led to creating your thread was because I heard that SHAI are back!!..I've heard one track 'Tell Me'which i've liked but nothing else off the album,i think it has been released independantly in the States and i wondered if you had heard anything about it.

I've not heard of the guy Blits but i will have a word w/my african friends and find out if they have heard of him.

I will let you know about the new Roots Manuva, my man got it yesterday,i've heard only one track and all i can say is its a lot darker than his old stuff.

oh yes i almost forgot, i'm quite feeling the new Mos Def and Talib Kweli albums, both completely different, even with Mos going all leftfield on us,he's still got me hooked

hope you don't mind me asking, but where are you from?..i don't know if i've ever asked you that!

Sorry no, I have not heard about it. I have been out of the whole r&b arena for quite some time since so much terrible tripe has been coming out. But good for them! I am sure that it must be great for them to be back into the studios and getting back into the game, this does not happen too often for musical artist if they are out of the scenes for a few years.

Yes please, keep me posted.

I am from the northwest.

Long time no see. Thanx for not forgeting Malik, I truly appreciate that. I pop in and out of M.com due to a active life so I do not post all the time here but I do enjoy reading some of the threads (if they are interesting).
Yeah, I still throw down for NW Europe, NW America and when I am able to NW Africa. So, how is Paris?
As you problably have noticed I no longer have my hotmail account but I shall drop a letter to you soon inshaalLah to catch with you akhey.

I pray that all is well with you and your family.

al7amdu li lLah here I am in good health.

Uncle Marz was Maleek. A kind hearted gentleman who always has interesting things to say.

... back to the subject of your thread: I went CD shopping the other day but I was sad. I cannot find new stuff that makes me happy.
I saw that Ali Shaheed Muhammad has a CD out and I was excited to listen to it but I found that I did not like, which I wanted to for I have been a long ASM fan. It has a very positive vibe and was happy how he represents alIslam and not in a cheesey way (he started a label called Garden Seeker and named the album 'ShaheedulLah and other Stereotypes') but the problem is that the music sounded like it was filled with a bunch of synth presets sounds and put together in a rather predictable grooves. A couple of the MC's were pretty good (one really stood out) and has a good female singer.
Man, I just wrote a review
I could not find the new MC Eiht album and I really wanted to hear it. Supposedly it sounds like grimmy late-80's grooves and I enjoy how Eiht has not sold out on his style (yet has grown as a person on a whole). Oh well.
So I settled on an old Massive Attack album.
