the "maqam" Hijjaz, in G is: G-G#-C-D-D#-F-G, doesn`t contain no quater tone at all.
and what is that Tcheeftatli?? i never heard by such name, also the malfuf is egyptian 2/4 rhythm..

No, I am not living in the UK. I am kinda on world travels the last couple of years so...

Yeah, that is why I started this thread because when I try to do research on Moroccan music theory there is next to nothing in text and when I can find something it is usually saying 'Morrocan music is simular and has roots to Arabian, Turk, etc. scales and modes; here are some stuff from Turks and Egyptians' which I find to be a bit much, I much rather learn about Berber music than Turkish. To say the least it leaves me a bit confused. I do try to play by ear but some theory is nice as good ground work. I tend to approach things in a Coletrane manner of studying: scale by scale, progression by progression.
If you got any good resources I would be much abliged.
