RABAT, March 29 (Reuters) - Seven French tourists were killed and 41 others injured on Tuesday when a bus packed with French tourists was in collision with a car in southern Morocco, authorities said.

"Seven French tourists were killed in the crash. Thirteen tourists were seriously injured and 28 others are in less critical condition," the health ministry representative in the Taroudant province told Reuters by telephone.

All 41 injured were French.

The French were travelling in a bus when it crashed with a four-wheel-drive car, carrying 2 British tourists, in Taroudant, 700 km (440 miles) south of the capital, a spokesman at the British embassy in Rabat said.

"One British tourist was possibly seriously hurt in the accident," the embassy spokesman said.

The accident occured on a road linking the main touristic cities of Agadir and Ouarzazate across the High Atlas mountains.

Victims of the crash were airlifted to Taroudant's hospital while some of those seriously hurt in the crash were taken to Marrakesh and Rabat military hospitals, the health ministry official said.

The French embassy in Rabat declined to comment immediately the information.

The loopy way people drive over there is mad... I'm surprised there aren't a hell of a lot more RTAs! God forbid.

Awful...

When is the Moroccan government going to do something about the state of the roads in Morocco and the unqualified drivers on them??

Red face

I think it would take an awfully long time before they achieve anything there... I'm sure that the roads there and driving standards are not their priority.

I don't think its just the roads but the hot-headed mentality too
