is anybody familiar with slavery in mauretania

I ask this because just like the rest of the sahara it is filled with arabized-berbers. In mauretania the country is ruled by bidanes or arab-berbers and they are slave owners of haratin.

My question is if mauritania is a muslim country with very little non-muslims and according to fiqh of sharia: ?? ???? ?????? ??????? ?????? ? ??? ??????? ????? ?????? ????????? ? ???? ??? ???? ???????? ?????? ?? ?????? ???? ?????

then why do muslims persist on enslaving muslims? Are the slaves not considered brothers?
