What do you mean, Mselya with "it was there all along"?
Star trek is Sci-Fi. X-Files is not Sci-Fi! there are some elements in X-Files of sci-fi (the aliens.. secret advanced technologies..) but it's hapening in "now" .. The main theme of the serie is: Unexplainable-Unprovable- events and the problem is that Mulder and Scully and Scinner can't prove for the FBI that those events really happened ... plus there is some conspiracies in the high circles of the government ..
