Smile When the Moors Ruled in Europe

Salaam All,

Just to remind you if you didn’t know Channel 4 will be showing a 2 hour documentary titled “When the Moors Ruled in Europe” this Saturday at 7pm. This is a must watch for anyone interested in El Andalus and the contributions made by our ancestors. It’s interesting to note that modern day Spaniards are only now beginning to appreciate their Moorish history which is incredible when you consider the contributions made by the Moors, but at least the process has begun…

I just hope the historian Bettany Hughes is fair and balanced in the documentary and doesn’t resort to the stereotypical western perceptions of Moors so typified by films like El Cid.

Peace.

haha i resisted the Chico temptation and watched the documentary instead. The program was excellent, it described how the Moors arrived in Spain and what they achieved there during 700 years of rule - facinating. Part of the program was filmed in Fes, Morocco.

Don't dismay if you missed it as it will surely be repeated on Ch4 soon.
