~ YUSUF ISLAM ~
![]() ![]() ![]() Salam ~ A ~ I agree wholeheartedly with your comments about our respected brother Yusuf, and an amazing Islamic personality he is {{alongside many others}} which has given him the respect he rightfully deserves. He has changed many ideas and revolutionizes many thoughts, beliefs and actions of our ummah in the UK. How ironic, you met him "the other day", as so did I, well actually a few weeks ago with his beautiful wife at Heathrow ! Just, goes to show, anyone can talk a good talk, believe me I have met many rajel that love the sound of their own voices when speaking infront of women. My point is, well, I suppose that a greatness of a man does not consist in him preaching sermons or the formulating of theories. It lies in the possession of a mighty personality ! Wa Salam/ Regards ![]() ![]()

Nadia, in my opinion Yusuf Islam characterizes the essence of what a Muslim should be. He’s not arrogant or loud mouthed, doesn’t jump to conclusions and he’s a very deep thinker. If you listen to some of his old songs you’ll realize he was different compared to your normal manufactured pop singer who sings songs with words that have no meaning. I’ve been to many talks by many Muslims who are better than Yusuf when it comes to public speaking, but when you hear Yusuf speaking you get a real sense that he possesses real Iman. Not the Iman of someone who’s read a few Islamic books and feels he’s ready to give lectures on Islam.
Houda your absolutely right, some speakers are good orators, but they lack substance. The best form of Dawah isn’t in giving a lightening speech or giving out leaflets on Islam; it’s in how you behave and conduct yourself with others in society in times of ease and difficulty. It’s very easy to go from one extreme to another but very difficult to stick to the straight and narrow path of Islam. ps: I'll try out sea food based pastila next time I go to Morocco. Peace. |
