Moroccan Arabic langauge Books

Hi Gang,

I've been scouring the internet for a good book with cd's preferably on the Moroccan dialect of Arabic.

I've found many but most of them seem to be geared for tourists traveling to Morocco, and they only cover the basics.

I'm looking for something a little more comprehensive. I have family in Tetouan and there is a family reunion being planned for next spring that I will be attending and I would like to do the respectful thing by being able to speak the language as fluently as possible.

I purchased a book called Moroccan Arabic by: Aaron Sakulich and I have yet to see how well it covers the language.

Any and all suggestions will be welcome, shukran....

Hi, have you tried your local Library? I know ours has a selection of language courses on CD, DVD or books at many different levels. They can advise you as to which is the best suited to your needs and if they don't have it in their Library I'm sure will be able to get it for you. Cheaper than buying your own.

Thanks’ Arwen,

I didn't think about the library, and most of the books I've found on Arabic on the internet with audio is the MSA Arabic (which is fine)

But I really wanted to focus on Moroccan Arabic so I can understand and be understood that much better when I travel to Morocco next year.

I found some good books on Amazon but all the reviews say that the books only have the basics and are good for tourists.

I have one on order now from Amazon, so when I get it - hopefully it will cover a little more than just the basics, and I will check the library out.

Thank you once again.......
