French

I have some Muslim friends on Facebook who speak French, Arabic and English. Some are Moroccan, some are Tunesian, Some are Algerian. I bought a French/English book but I do not really study it like I should. The Arabic is mystery to me. French I can pick out some words. I am really impressed by speaking 3 different languages.
I also have some African friends who speak French. I try to figure out some of the words to get the idea of what they are saying.
I know that monde is people.
Just thought I would let everyone know some of what is going on.

Tunisa was a french protectorate after the first world war and was under french influence for many years. The education system was modeled on the french, so their second language is french and most tunisians speak it fluently. Morocco also was under the influence of Spain and France at some stage in their history. I suppose this has a large baring of other languages being spoken as well as arabic and berber.

I feel I should have paid more attention during language classes at schoo l...but it's never to late witchqueen. You could try a language course. Try your library next time you're there.

The only thing I remember from the French I learned at school (ooohh many, many moons ago) is
Le chat derriere la porte
which I believe means "the cat's behind the door"
what the cat was doing there, remains a mystery...
